Her parents must be proud.

I saw this by way of Drudge:  U Of C Students Launch ‘Hookups’ Website

They interviewed some clueless beta guys, who all were of the expectation that this would mean more sex for them.  But the female students were the ones which really stood out to me:

Freshman Lynda Lopez logged on but didn’t like what she saw.

“I was like, ‘This is not for me.’ I could do a lot better,” said Lopez.

She likes the idea of slutting around, but feels she can do a better job of it without the website.  I’m sure she can.  Two other female students had similar reactions.

There is much handwringing in the article that U of C students are “repressed”.

Clindaniel said the University of Chicago campus has been socially repressed for a long time.

Based on the responses from the coeds, I would say his lack of action isn’t due to the women on campus lacking sufficient sluttyness.  If someone reading this knows him, please share it with him.  Hopefully this will ease his concerns on the matter.

I say this with my tongue only partially in my cheek: What happened to putting the technology down and picking the bottle of hooch up?

Kids these days are crazy. In my day, the early to mid ’90s, we went to bars and parties and on dates. I don’t care enough to look up the stats, but I bet we did okay, especially since we were in the presence of flesh and blood members of the opposite sex and not just their avatars.

So glad I am done with college.

  3. Days of Broken Arrows says:

I’m with Ulysses. If you need a Web site to hook up with someone when you’re in college, you’re doing it wrong. I was in college in the late 1980s when the male-female ratio skewed towards males and even then the way to hook up way simple: comply walk out of your dorm room and down the hall (or to the library, to the Quad…).

  4. Bike Bubba says:

Lessee….the guy is encouraging college students to meet up with, and sleep with, people they don’t know…..in one of the more dangerous areas of Chicago. What could possibly go wrong?

I hope I am wrong, but I am giving it a couple of months before the lawsuits start because someone gets nasty STDs, is raped, or worse.

  5. Eric says:

Further proof that American women totally suck. Whenever anyone asks me: ‘Why don’t you just find a nice American girl and settle down with with her?’; I think of articles like this one and the recent Match.com ones and want to vomit!

U/C Hookups and Match.com: the US relationship scene in a microcosm and, by extension, the kind of world a man is taking himself towards if he keeps thinking Amerobitches are the least bit suited for any kind of serious relationships with any decent, self-respecting male.

If this is what counts with you women, count me out of your lives. Content yourselves with the kinds of men who like young sluts and aging slags.

  6. “I hope I am wrong, but I am giving it a couple of months before the lawsuits start because someone gets nasty STDs, is raped, or worse.”

That’s what I was going to say and perhaps the whole thing is a trap to launch false rape accusations.

“That’s what I was going to say and perhaps the whole thing is a trap to launch false rape accusations.”…

Job creation and summer internships for law and sociology majors, yay!

  8. Timitz says:

Man I wish I had something like this when I was in college. It would’ve made it even easier. The key Ulysses is to include it as a part of your system. If I had had this tool available I would have been seen in public with a lot of girls on dates before I signed up for the site. That way, they see you around with lots of girls and its social proof. The site enables them to approach you for the hookup without any social shaming. Honestly if you get one freebie its worth it. I went to a small school so everyone knew everyone, and I had to use the library, my running ballroom dance club, and the Academic building to meet chicks. This would’ve made it easier to both, get hookups and screen out girls as unworthy for LTRs.

  9. It will be a beta sausage fest. Meh.

The Alpha guys will simply practice Game in real life and the beta guys will be desperately hitting the hook up site only to get rejected.

Craigslist would be a better alternative for them.

  10. anonymous says:

I read about 10 adds. True to reputation, “where fun comes to die”, the requests were for AFTER semester finals. Academics trump sex at U. Chicago.

  11. Bike Bubba says:

“That’s what I was going to say and perhaps the whole thing is a trap to launch false rape accusations.”

I can’t decide whether it’s worse if you’re right, Laura, or if I’m right and there are real rapes that occur as a result. Either way, these students are clearly demonstrating that admission to Rockefeller’s U does not mean you’ve learned to think, or that you have an iota of common sense.

  12. Phil says:

What do the religious conservatives have to say about these women in the article? Oh wait, it’s those lustmen evil MEN who are the problem, preying on the innocent, virginal womenfolk of the world. At what point are these American protestants going to start talking about these slutty girls?

  13. Phil, the answer to your question is nothing. If you try and bring up female sexual behavior with a socon or a tradcon (based on the beliefs that the socons and tradcons claim), they will either pretend that unmarried women are virgins or near virgins or claim that women are the victims of men using Jedi mind tricks (more or less).

  14. Bike Bubba says:

Phil, if you want to know what a religious conservative says about this, you can look at my posts. If you need translation, I’m saying that these people, male and female, are dumber than a sack of s**t if they think this is a good idea.

I think you could also say Laura and our gracious host are religious conservatives, too, and they’re “not exactly” defending these people, either. So nice try, but no, religious conservatives don’t let women off the hook for acting like hookers. Nor men for acting like wannabe pimps or PUAs.

  15. Eric says:

As far as religious conservatism goes, the best advice I ever heard on the subject came from a very old Catholic priest of the ‘old school’. He said, “When choosing a wife, imagine what you want your daughters to be like, and marry someone like that.”

  16. jack says:

“It will be a beta sausage fest. Meh.
The Alpha guys will simply practice Game in real life and the beta guys will be desperately hitting the hook up site only to get rejected.
Craigslist would be a better alternative for them.”

Correct – it is not a hookup site. It is a beta-detection website.

Never think that things are as they are advertised. Only a total tool of a guy would sign up.

  17. HarmonicaFTW says:

Why isn’t there a site like the fetish dating sites or JDate?

BetaMatch.com – By caring men for strong, unique women!

  18. Steve says:

It’s pretty amazing that people still get worked up over an “epidemic” of sexual repression. Like all the people that get hysterical about Twilight not because of the half dozen good reasons to dislike it but because it carries a mild chastity message. Also, (even though it been said a 1000 times in roissyland) I totally agree male betas are barking up the wrong tree if they think free love is going to help them out.

  19. MNL says:

D, somewhat related to this post here is the following opinion piece I saw this morning at the Wall Street Journal titled, “Why Do We Let Them Dress Like That?”:

    http://tinyurl.com/6ft4epf

It’s an honest look at the early sexualization of girls and how parents (especially mothers) contribute to it. A couple interesting quotes from the piece:

I don’t know one of them [out of all my female adult friends] who doesn’t have feelings of lingering discomfort regarding her own sexual past. And not one woman I’ve ever asked about the subject has said that she wishes she’d “experimented” more…

…Sex is the most powerful thing there is, and our generation, what did we know?”

In other words, once some women gain maturity–and a bit of perspective as a result of becoming parents themselves–they realize the hook-up culture isn’t quite what it was promised to be.

But it’s also clear towards the end of the article that while the author comes close, she doesn’t entirely “get it”. She ends the opinion piece with a lament on the “double standard” granted to male vs. female sexuality.

I suspect that as long as the author fails understand basic truths regarding the sexual “double standard”, she’ll never be able to shake her internal confusion over whether her daughter’s behavior is “empowering” or merely “slutty”? Kind of sad, actually.

[D: Great link and analysis. Thanks!]

  20. Aurini says:

Go visit the site – the design looks straight out of 2003.

I just watched The Social Network the other day, and this site is even sadder and hilariouser in that light.

The ads seem pretty much identical to Craigslist, and as expected there were only two from women – one from a chubby girl, looking to date, and another from a girl who “Likes drawing robots. Want to draw robots with me?” Unless that is some new-fangled term for sexy time, I’m guessing troll.

I wonder if you need a *.edu email address for it, or if anyone can register. If it’s wide open, I’m smelling a Duke Lacrosse Episode II.

Phil and Pro-Male/Anti-Feminist Tech have been taking serious drugs. Traditional conservatives don’t view women as “perfect little virgins”. Too many delusions you guys are having.
